The 13th Annual Steinhatchee Community Fishing Tournament is coming up on March 15.  With a relatively inexpensive $30 entry fee, this popular tournament attracts anglers from all over Florida’s Big Bend and Nature Coast.  The event is co-sponsored by the Taylor County Tourism Council and the Steinhatchee Community Projects Board.

2013 MCFF/CCA “Fall Fly Fishing Challenge” Results

The 9th annual MCFF/CCA “Fall Fly Fishing Challenge” was held on Saturday, Oct. 26th. The tournament, hosted jointly by the Mangrove Coast Fly Fishers and the Sarasota chapter of Coastal Conservation Association, benefits the conservation or education programs of both organizations. Anglers could fish any water on the west coast of Florida using flies only in a catch, digital photo, release format fishing tournament for reds, trout, snook and more. All fish were photographed and immediately released. Winners were awarded Orvis Access fly tackle outfits, handsome plaques and gift certificates.  A special thanks to donors to the event, Redfish Landing Guide Service, Orvis, CB’s Saltwater Outfitters, Economy Tackle, Simms, Andy Thornal Company, Cortland fly lines and Logic Lures and to CCA Regional director, Adam Miller, for helping make the event possible. Tournament co-directors were Brent Wilson and Doug Fisher along with committee members Steve Gibson, Rick Grassett, Bob Parker and Doug Forde. Anglers gathered at Harry’s Sports Bar on Friday evening, Oct 25 for the captains meeting and at The Meadows Country Club community room on Saturday afternoon for angler check in. Following the tournament awards, anglers were treated to a homemade BBQ donated and prepared by Capt. John & Leslie Hand.

18th Annual CCA Sarasota “Photo All‐Release Challenge”

The Sarasota chapter of Coastal Conservation Association will host their 18th annual “Photo All‐Release
Challenge” fishing tournament on April 19th & 20th, 2013. This year’s tournament headquarters will be at
the Potter Building at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds. There will be a mandatory angler meeting on
Friday evening, April 19th at the Potter Building. The tournament features a catch‐photo‐release format
for snook, redfish and trout with anglers using identical boxes of lures or flies that are provided. Fishing
begins Saturday morning and all anglers must turn in their photos at New Pass Grill & Bait Shop by 3:00
pm.

Anglers will photograph their catch with their own digital cameras, which must have a removable
memory card. Divisions include Grand Slam (largest snook, redfish and trout), Angler (most inches per
species), Largest Fish (each species), Lady Angler (largest fish, each species), Fly Rod and Youth. The
tournament, which raises money for CCA’s conservation projects, also features an upscale raffle, a silent
auction and an awards dinner on Saturday evening. Cost is $95 per angler and $30 for youth anglers (12
years old and younger). Anglers must register in advance. Applications will be available at fishing tackle
shops, marinas and boating stores in Sarasota and Manatee counties and online at

Taylor County Fall Trout Tournament, Keaton Beach, 9/8/12

You don’t want to miss this event!  With a guaranteed $3000 payout, there will be lots of competition but there are plenty of chances to win.  Categories include the heaviest 5-trout stinger, big trout, big redfish, redfish with the most spots and heaviest “mystery” fish.  The event kicks off with a 6:30PM Friday, September 7 Captains’ meeting at the Keaton Beach Marina.  Fishing starts at safe light (30 minutes before sunrise) and weigh-in is scheduled for 3PM.  Host marina is the Keaton Beach Marina.

Fishing Tournament Summary
Welcome to the 1st Annual “Fishing for a Cure” Fishing Tournament and Fish Fry!


This event is a fund raiser for the STOP! Children’s Cancer fund.


Tournament winner will be the boat with the heaviest Grand Slam (heaviest Redfish, Trout Stringers, Spanish
Mackerel combination). If no Grand Slams are caught, prizes will be awarded for the biggest overall eligible species
and the top 3 of each eligible species (Redfish, Trout String and Spanish Mackerel). The annual trophy will be presented
to heaviest Grand Slam or largest eligible species if no Grand Slam is caught, (in addition to prize package).


TOURNAMENT RULES


• Leave from Cedar Key dock, any time, but don’t start fishing (lines in) until 6:00 AM. No tackle or bait
restrictions.


• Lines out (stop fishing) at 12:00 PM, awards at 7:00 PM at the Great Outdoors Restaurant. Must be
present to win.


• All fish must be weighed between 12 PM – 2 PM at Cedar Key dock to be entered in the tournament.
All decision’s made by weigh-in official are final.


• Come to the Great Outdoors Restaurant at 65 North Main Street in High Springs for Awards Ceremony
and Fish Fry beginning at 6:00 PM (awards will be presented at 7:00 PM).


• Tournament VHF Channel to be determined. Boaters will be notified day of event.


Non-fishermen and guests attending the Fish Fry at the Great Outdoors to arrive anytime after 6:00 PM.
Tickets will be available at the door.
