Welcome to the Saltwater Angler’s Guides companion Web site. Hopefully you’ll find the posts about updates and changes to the books and reader comments found on the site useful in planning your fishing trip. If you’re not familiar with my book, click on the link to your right and see a full description and reviews at Amazon.com
I encourage you to participate and to help create what I feel will become the definitive fishing resource for all of Florida’s Gulf coast.
Please let me know if there are any updates or changes to the information found in my book, The Saltwater Angler’s Guide to Florida’s Big Bend and Emerald Coast (University Press of Florida, 2009, ISBN 978-0-8130-3338-1) As you probably know, things ‘on-the-ground’ change faster than new book editions can be published–new ramps are built, storms change the structure of Florida’s Gulf coastline, and new hotels, restaurants and marinas pop up almost overnight. The purpose of this website is to provide updates to the book in an orderly, timely and efficient manner. I also plan to continue my research by making several trips each year throughout the region and will post any changes in the appropriate category on this Web site.
If you’ll post your comments in the proper category, they’ll be there for other anglers to share. Simply use the drop-down menu at the top of this page and select the destination you’re interested in. Any changes or updates will be listed in that category, as will your comments after you submit them. And if you’re interested in automatic notification of posts, simply click on the ‘RSS’ button and you’ll be ‘fed’ new posts as they occur.
I’ve just finished The Saltwater Angler’s Guide to Tampa Bay and Southwest Florida and it’s on bookshelves now. This book covers waters from Hernando County (Bayport) south to Chokoloskee, at the northern boundary of the Everglades. It’s different territory, and one every visitor to (or native of) Florida needs to visit and fish! You can order by clicking on the link to the right to Amazon.com.
On this site, you’ll find links to other Web sites that may also be of interest to you. My Outdoor Writing site includes a selection of feature articles from Florida Sportsman Magazine, an archive of my weekly Florida Sportsman online Big Bend Fishing4Casts, and Florida Sportsman Big Bend Action Spotter columns. And my Fishing Guide site might also be of interest if you’re headed towards Steinhatchee.
